Rainbow Play Cafe opened its doors in May 2023, offering parents and children in the New Westminster community a new space where they can play, sit, connect and relax while they enjoy some delicious pastries, healthy snacks and of course, coffee.

This new kid-friendly play café aims to be an easy place for both parents and caregivers to take their kids to play while they sit comfortably, have a playdate or do some work. It features an interactive and fun play area mainly thought for kids between 6 months old to 6 years old. 

Xanat Guiot is the mom-entrepreneur behind the new business. She is the owner of Rainbow Play Café and mom of two kids. Guiot, who was born and raised in Mexico where she used to work Marketing before moving to Canada. 

After becoming a mom, she quickly realized how important it is to provide this kind of safe space to the community, especially for parents with small children at home.

“After my first child was born,  I realized how fulfilling motherhood can be, but also how isolating and stressful it can get. That is why I created this space, where I want other parents to feel they have the support they need, a place where they can meet on those rainy and cold days without having to worry about the kids being bored or too loud. A place where kids can also develop, interact, play and learn”

Rainbow Play Cafe's main goal is to be a friendly face in the community, where parents can connect and interact with each, fighting the feeling of isolation and finding the support and resources they need.

From interactive and sophisticated, toys to Montessorri wooden boards and climbers, the play area offers a fun, clean and safe environment for babies, toddlers and preschoolers.  

Our light board and pegs, for example, it's perfect for developing fine motor skills in toddlers. When inserted, the vibrant acrylic pegs create an illuminated sensory canvas where children -and parents- can explore color, shapes, patterns, and form. 

But the café isn't  just be for play time. We also provide a selection of books in many other languages to promote bilingualism, and a small room available for special activities, such as story time, music and movement, and art classes. Private events and birthday parties can also be booked at Rainbow. 

Our menu consists of organic Mexican fair-trade coffee, a great variety of handcrafted hot and iced lattes, empanadas, pastries, signature smoothies and some light sandwiches.

We are  located at 921 12th street, New Westminster, BC, and it is open Monday through Saturday from 9am to 7pm, and Sundays from 9am to 5pm.
